usually don't dig movies with a 2.5 hour runtime but I think that

did want to put it out there that I've deactivated my DeviantArt
account and why. Honestly I haven't been happy with the site
in a
while and this was my final excuse to end my account, so it's
admittedly more than a little selfish. I recently learned
that
DeviantArt's parent company is Israeli and with the bombings and
genocide in Palestine that is obviously something I don't want to
support. Of course just being based in Israel doesn't made
DeviantArt or its affiliates responsible but in times like this silence
can be defeaning. I'm not holding anyone to do the same, I
just
felt that I had to share where I stand and hope that matters can
improve well past just a cease-fire.

About 17 years ago I was dianosed with clinical depression.
This was around the time when depression was really being seen as a
legit medical condition but the handful of people I told were like
"You're one of the happiest people I know, stop screwing around" so I
buried it and I've only just begun to really get help for the last year
or two.
If you feel like you need help, please seek it out.
You might feel like you're flying solo but you're not alone.

Transformers Art has a new Optimus

Two new pages of Optimus Prima #2 are up!
SInce it's been literally years since I've worked on this comic I'm
obviously not happy with a lot of the art. So I've gone back
and
overhauled a lot of it. Every page has overhauls, some minor
and
some not-so-minor. My style's varied a lot over the years,
moreso
than I realized. Most of the tweaks are to the colors but
some a
lot has been re-drawn. I'm still not great at drawing
Transformers but I have improved a bit so almost all of the bots have
gotten some updates.
There are just a handful of pages left in this
issue and hopefully the need to keep all of the art consistent will get
me off my ass and finish this book off in a timely manner. So
stay tuned! :D

pretty enamored with Your Lie in April right now and obviously there's
more stuff I'm working on.
I'm really happy with the stuff I've been popping out, especially for
stuff I've been doing on a cold read (MUSIC TERM HURR HURR I'M SO
CLEVER). I got all excited about the fan art I was drawing
for
this and then I posted it and no one cared. :O
I was in the dumps feeling sorry for myself for a little while but then
remembered that screw it, I draw what I want to.
This isn't a pity party and I'm really not trying to make a cry for
attention, just a reminder to do whatever makes you happy.

BotCon
2016 was a blast, meeting new nerds and catching up with old ones.
This is officially the last one and I'm sad to see it go,
warts and all, but I'm sure it'll be back in some form or fashion and
when it is I hope to see you there again!
Of course, sketches were done and a big shout-out to everyone who came
by my table to say hi! I had an odd urge to draw Harley Quinn
that weekend (which is weird since I'm not a big Harley fan) and fate
would have it that a couple of people wanted sketches of her *FISTPUMP*
 
I also did some art buying too, namely an Optimus Prima commish from
the great Hayato Sakamoto! :O
Last
but definitely not least, I got to meet Judd Nelson and get the awesome
print BotCon had done
by my bros Casey and Josh! :3

They've been putting out a bunch of new Aladdin stuff in prep for the
Bluray coming in October. I saw Jafar last weekend when
visiting some friends and thought it was so absurd that they made a
Jafar plush. And then I promptly bought said Jafar plush
BECAUSE it's so absurd that there is a Jafar plush. That and
he's a pretty fancy plush. I have no regrets. :D

After (holy smokes) over two years of lagging behind I finally have two

panda feelings I have for Menasor. :D

And speaking of the new Cinderella...
I'll just put it this way: Alice in Wonderland was dumb,
Maleficent was meh and Cinderella was amazing. Frozen Fever
was
also incredibly cute and they didn't need to put it in front of
Cinderella to get me to see it but I appreciate the gesture.

I was excited about this ever since Kenneth Branagh was announced to
direct and it certainly didn't disappoint. Lily James was
completely at home as Ella and it totally showed. The movie
didn't try to discredit the original classic or "turn it on its head"
or anything pompous like that. It just tried to be a solid
movie
in its own right while still respecting what came before and in that
respect it totally nailed it. The casting (OH MY GOD HELENA
BONHAM CARTER IS PERFECT), the performances, the cinematography, the
music...I could go on and on about how great Cinderella is but I won't.
Please just see it for yourself. :D
Oh yeah, if you buy the Cinderella soundtrack it's got a download code

One of these new pieces is based on my Christmas vacation to Disney
World!
My buddies Josh and Becky hung out with me while we took in shenanigans
like rides, meeting princesses and chowing down! Disney is
awesome, but it's even more awesomer with awesomest friends!

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party was awesome as usual, and Elsa
"freezing" Cinderella Castle was too (and the fact that they run that
show twice a night :OOO). Running around the parks
was
extra special this time because I had a new Frozen shirt, custom made
by the ever-talented Mary! Josh and I also splurged on the
Frozen party Hollywood Studios was throwing which had some crazy good
desserts which we ate much too much of. <333
Speaking of
which, a big THANK YOU to Disney for keeping the Frozen Sing-a-long
show. It really is great and you should check it out if
you're
going to WDW (and now Disneyland too I hear!)

I also got a new toy, the Elsa
Musical Ice Castle
from The Disney Store! :3
I already had the Mattel Ice Castle and still dig it, but I've been
waiting for Disney to release their own version and they didn't
disappoint!
More pics below, Mattel on the left and Disney
Store on the right.
Both castles sport awesome sculpts though the Disney Store one is
obviously more "screen accurate." I do wish that they had
stuck with the unpainted translucent plastic like the Mattel one did.
Both levels light up on the Disney Store set by pressing on the
giant snowflake on either floor. The top floor plays the first
chorus of "Let It Go" when you activate the lights. :3
The
Mattel castle isn't too shabby and still holds up with three different
colored LED lights.
:D
Both
versions of the castles and figures are about the same scale, so you
can mix and match. One important thing I didn't mention before is
that the
Disney Store version is pricier but hooks you up with all five figures
shown. The Mattel version only comes with Elsa and Olaf (the
Anna, Kristoff and Sven came from other figure sets). But Mattel
makes up for this a bit by including some swanky furniture for Elsa to
chill on. :D
The figures are pretty nice, with Elsa and Sven being new sculpts and
the stand-out figures in the set. Though the Mattel versions
are a bit more durable and the Disney Store ones being kinda brittle.
The joints on a lot of these Disney Store Castle Playsets figures
arrive fused and will snap off without a lot of force.
Popping them in the freezer for about ten minutes seemed to
help, but my Elsa still has a shoulder that's stuck.
The Anna, Elsa and Olafs from both versions are all pretty good, but
the Kristoff and Sven are like night and day. :OOO
I dig how the Disney Store castle seems to be intentionally one-upping
the Mattel castle.
"You have an ice staircase? So will we!"
"You're ice castle lights up? Well our ice castle will light
up AND PLAY LET IT GO!!!"
Even though I'm biased towards the Disney Store castle the Mattel one
is still a ton of fun, plus the little figures don't have the quality
control problems the Disney store set has. Last I checked the
Mattel castle retailed for $35 and for about $15 more the Disney Store
castle can be yours at $50. Both are worth the price if you ask
me.
If you're looking for a nice display piece the Disney Store
one is for you. If you're wanting for your little Princess or
Prince to play with the Mattel version might be a better choice.
Or you can be a nerd like me and buy both. XD

reason
for the delay is one part laziness and one part trying to figure out
some page layouts. A good by product of the crazy-long hiatus
is
that I've had time to mull over and fix a lot of missteps in the pages
already up, namely with the colors. When I started out I
tried my
hand coloring in a CMYK scheme as opposed to my usual RGB style.
Well, if it ain't broke don't fix it so I went back and
changed
the colors resulting in a much more saturated look. Check it
out
(old on the left, new on the right):

that
the tweaks are done hopefully you'll be seeing new page updates in the

Two
new pieces uploaded tonight, one lady makes a long overdue return in Transformers Art
and a new Commission!

The
Megatronica piece is kind of a big deal because she was the test piece
for these new non-photo blue pencils I picked up recently.
The non-photo blue pencil is an ace up the traditional artist's sleeve.
When scanning or photographing lineart certain shades of blue
don't show up under the inked lineart, meaning you don't have to erase
those messy pencil lines. I bear down pretty hard when I
sketch so blue pencils like this are a real time-saver.
Problem is, I never really found a type of non-photo blue pencil that
really fit my style. I ran into this
review of blue
pencils and thought I'd give the
recommended Sanford Col-Erase Light Blue Pencil. Again, I
bear down really hard when I draw and my problem was the waxy "lead" on
most blue pencils made inking tough. With the Col-erase
doesn't give me quite as much grief, though I still run into some
trouble inking an area I've worked over or erased a lot. If
you're not like me and sketch like a normal person I think you'll be
fine. The Col-erase lays down a pretty bold line without too
much pressure (non-photo blue pencils I've had in the past took some
pretty good mashing to draw a decent line).
I'm pretty happy with the Col-erase over all, but I wouldn't expect all
of the pencil sketches you see from here on out to be blue. I
found these to be pretty plentiful on art supply sites and Ebay if
you're interested in taking them out for a spin.
Speaking of which, I've got some more art I've gotta get back to.
Including a Captain Marvel piece I've been procrastinating
on. In the meantime, I'll remind you all once again that this
is the best comic you're probably not reading right now. :3

Overdue
updates means hella art updates! Four new pieces for you to check

I post new art and I've also got new toys to gush about!
Fall of Cybertron Ultra Magnus and Sideswipe, plus Beast Hunters
Bumblebee. I bought Magnus and Sideswipe because I dig the
characters and admittedly I didn't have high hopes for them, but I was
pleasantly wowed. I was meh about the FoC Prime, but Magnus is
how you do a redeco right. It's almost if they had big blue in
mind from the get-go with this figure. FoC Jazz is one of my
favorite new toys (even though most nerds rag on him) and Sideswipe is
a pretty rad follow-up. And porcupine Bumblebee? He's just
so ridiculous looking I had to have him. I didn't get the
previous "RiD" version of him so the toy is new to me and he's pretty
fun to fiddle around with, especially his Automorph deal.
Okay, enough turbonerding about toys. Gotta get back to drawing.

slump where nothing I draw looks good to me. I was able to get

I've been nuts for this ghoul ever since pics leaked of her earlier
last year. I mean, a Chinese Dragon girl? You know I'm down
with that. I'm totally turbonerding over the detail on Jinafire,
from the sculpted scales on her body to her fanged shoes and crazy
makeup. Jinafire (and her casemate Skelita) are pretty tough to
find, even now. I got mine a few weeks ago, but I had to brave a
certain store to buy one...
Yup. I bled for my hobby.

Sorry for
the lack of updates, I'm still recovering from a very epic Disney World
vacation with my bestest buddy Mary!
We had a pretty awesome (read: VERY AWESOME) time running around Disney
like the nerds we are. We stayed in the new Art of Animation
Resort (LITTLE MERMAID ROOMS!) and met a bunch of princesses
(Pocahontas is here? POCAHONTAS IS HERE?!)! We had lunch at
Cinderella's Royal table and of course hit the new Fantasyland!
Is there anything better than geeking out at Disney with one of
your best friends? I think not. :3

First we've got MOTUC Frosta!
This and Shadow Weaver were the only reasons I got that stupid
subscription this year, and Queen Mackenzie was the figure I wanted the
most from this whole line. Her sculpt is pretty cool and I
love
her updated Ice Wand. After swapping out her misassembled
arms
she's all I could ask for in a toy of the super hot Ice Queen.
Now bring on Castaspella and Double Trouble, Mattel!
And now some cold cast Black Cat action!
Bowen Designs just released this Retro Black Cat statue. I
wish
the scale was a little bigger for the jingle she costs (she's around
1/7 scale I guess) but her sculpt is super rad. Her pose
looks a
little precarious on her tippy-toe, but Bowen knows what they're doing
(I hope). The mini faux string of pearls is a nice touch,
especially since they don't make me "assemble" that part (the previous
Bowen Black Cat statue had little diamonds that they told you to Super
Glue to the base. No lie).
And is it just me, or does her face sculpt remind you of Teri
Hatcher...? :O

One of the pieces is based on one of my new favorite toys, Weaponizer
Optimus Prime!
The transformation might not be the most complicated, but he's got
pretty good articulation and OMG POP UP SPINNING GATTLING GUNS ON HIS
SHOULDERS!!!
Everytime I hit that action feature I giggle like a little girl when I

reading this but you SHOULD BE" list, the new Captain Marvel!
The title's only at issue 2 at this point, but already it's a great
read. The writing is fast and good, the dialog witty and Carol's
characterization is dead-on. As for the art, please don't let the
covers fool you (seriously, Captain Marvel looks like an Asian with a
bad tan. REALLY?!) the art is crazy good and I hope the gold
standard can be maintained for the long haul. ^_^

I'm
putting my money and my pencil where my mouth is for a good cause with
this new piece in Original Art:
I try to keep my political views to myself, but you also know that I
can't keep quiet when something is really bugging me. Recent
statements and actions by certain companies (a youth organization and a
restaurant in particular) have me pretty steamed. Especially
when they hide behind the term "Family Values."
Being gay never hurt anybody. However hate and prejudice
against someone based on only their sexuality most certainly does hurt
people. Judging someone solely by whom they choose to love is
just as stupid as, oh say, judging someone on the color of their skin.
And we're better than that.
Or are we...?
I might not be the best practicing Christian, but I do believe in the
life and healing power of Jesus Christ and I absolutely will not
believe that He's happy with the things that are being said and done in
regards to homosexuals in His name. It's these "Believers"
that make me ashamed to be called one too.
So I've created this piece to do my part to help:
I'm offering this piece as a fundraiser, with proceeds going to the Gay & Lesbian

Finally
getting around to the art thing again after TFcon
2012 in Toronto! This
was my first time attending the show and it definitely won't be the
last! I sold prints, drew sketches, bought toys and best of
all got to hang out with friends old and new!
Let's do it again in 2013, EH!!!
Speaking of TFcon, check out the Shafter art that adorned the toy
packaging and preregistrant badges over the weekend!

yesterday Sideshow Toy fully revealed their Premium
Format Poison Ivy figure:
Ab window?! SERIOUSLY?! Silas is not pleased.

I'm gonna get on my soapbox and complain for a sec. If you
want
Ivy showing skin, fine. Just use that stupid design where
she's
just wearing vines or some shit like that. But don't put her
in
her classic outfit with a cutout for her abs! The sculpt,
pose
and expression are PERFECT otherwise! It seriously looks like
an
afterthought, and a bad one at that. With Ivy's pale
skintone, it
stands out even moreso if you ask me. It's like some Sideshow
supervisor was all like "That's pretty sexy, but y'know what would go
great with that crazy cleavage? Midriff."
"Whaddya mean her outfit doesn't bear her belly? Well, then
just
cut a hole in it!"
Idiots.
I'm weak so I preordered her anyways because the rest of the piece
still entices me so. But I'm on the hunt for a
customizer/sculpter that I can throw money at to fix this problem I
have. So if you think you're reading this and think you're up
to

I'll have a table in the dealer room selling prints and doing

been asking to see from me for quite some time now.

BotCon
2012 was a blast! It was great having stupid fun with
old friends, meeting new people, and of course... buying toys! To
everyone who dropped by my art table or caught me elsewhere during the
con, it was great to meet you and I hope to catch you next year!

There's
a new piece in Fan Art
who enjoys corndogs. :3
Also,
I just got in a new toy that I have to brag about...
 
And
she's none other than the Psylocke Premium Format FIgure by Sideshow.
Like the other Sideshow PF's, she's 1/4 scale. Which means
she's HUGE. I got the Sideshow Exclusive version which comes
with a swappable "90's Hairstyle" head and control art print.
I like the hair on the variant head (pictured on the right),
but I think I prefer the regular one since the exclusive face looks a
little off for some reason. The control art is nice, though I
wish Sideshow would let us know who the artist is.
The figure is pretty nice, with a cool sculpt overall. She
has two different belts, the Jim Lee type pictured here and a Ms.
Marvel-esque sash with wire running through it so you can pose it and
shit. That and the leotard are the only parts of the figure
done in soft goods, but I guess that's all you really can do on Betsy
here without getting crazy complicated. She's also got
swappable left arms so Psylocke can sport either her Psychic Knife or a
spare sword.
This piece is pretty cool overall. I like that her base isn't
super wide so I have no real problems finding a place to display her.
I do have to say that her boobs are crazy big. It's
a little freaky, and that's saying a lot from me. XD
The Exclusive
Version
is on a wait list, but I'm sure they'll list a few more once the
preorders are filled. Though the Regular Edition is still up for
grabs. If you dig Psylocke, this might be right up your alley.

I've
got
two new pieces for you today, one in Transformers Art
and another in Original
Art!
Also,
since
I was all involved with Prima's 5th Birthday last Friday I almost
missed something pretty important (and pretty sad) that happened that
same day: Glen Keane resigning from Disney.
I originally wanted to draw something, but couldn't because nothing I
could come up with seemed up to snuff with Glen's work. For
those
of you who don't know, Glen Keane is one of the greatest animators of
this generation. He was the man behind Ariel, The Beast,
Aladdin,
Pocahontas and (the ever-underrated) Tarzan. The list goes on
and
on.
Glen Keane is one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, influence on how
I draw. I remember wearing out my VHS copies of Aladdin and
Beauty and the Beast watching his work in awe, wondering how someone
could bring drawings to life. During high school I poured
over my
copy of The Art of Pocahontas, trying in vain to get my scribbles to
match his. While all of my buddies were drawing Wolverine, I
was
drawing Ariel.
His leaving Disney Animation is the sign of the times, sadly.
I
won't go into the politics and drama that goes on inside of the House
of Mouse other than to say I'm sure that Glen Keane's resignation is a
result of much of that. I have no doubt that we'll see Mr.
Keane's work again, on the big screen or small. But knowing
that
we probably won't see the Cinderella Castle before the opening credits
of whatever he brings us from here on out is kind of sad.
I'm planning on hitting D23 Expo next year and was hoping against hope
that I'd get a chance to finally see him, but now I'm guessing that's
not gonna happen. If they're smart they'll do a big send off
for
him, but again insider politics probably say "No" to that too.
I
wish nothing but the best in what Glen does next, and am sure that
it'll knock our socks off.

vengeance. On the TF side of things, the Cyberverse/Legends
class
has always been one of my absolute favorites and Cliffy sure lives up
to that standard. I highly recommend both of these beauties

though I do colors and finishes digitally, my lineart is still done
with pencil, pen and paper. After I'm finished with a piece I
usually shove the paper into a drawer or under my desk. So
what
does that mean? A big hard drive and a mile-high stack of
paper
with scribbles on it.
Usually when stuff gets too crowded I
purge the archive. Which is just a fancy way of saying I
chunk the lot of it.
But this time I thought I'd try something a little different...

Kinect: Disneyland Adventures is made for 5-year-old kids in mind,
which is probably why I'm having so much fun with it. XD

lot to do with it, this is worth at least a rent. the locale
is
pretty much spot-on to the park and the attraction minigames are a lot
of fun. Last night I spent over an hour running around making
trash cans come to life with a magic wand Cinderella gave me.

Also, some new toys to gush over...
Swiftwind and She-Ra 2.0 (aka Bubble Power She-Ra) are all kinds of
awesome. Swifty's rocking his cartoon colors at long last and
the
new She-ra figure with her updated sculpt is icing on the cake.
And right now Bumblebee from Transformers: Prime is my newest
favoritist Transformer.
The other figures from the line are also kinda neat, but Bee
takes the cake since he turns into a bitchin' muscle car.
She-Ra and her noble steed have been sold out on the Matty website
(surprise, surprise) but I think you can still find them for decent
secondary market prices. Bumblebee and the rest of the
Transformers: Prime crew should be trickling into retail stores now.

say that I'm going to eat some delicious crow after reading the first
two issues of DC's Voodoo series. The words and art are a

pleasant surprise, and if the pace picks up as the last page of #2
suggests I might have to stick with this one.
But as good as Voodoo was, Huntress knocks it out of the park with
Helena's new solo debut book. I can't recommend
issue 1
enough. I would draw her again, but damn that black outfit
*shakes fist*. Oh well, I'm more than content to settle with
pouring over Marcus To's work over and over. :3

my little send-off to the final issue of Batgirl vol. 3 to
make room for the DC comics reboot in September.
If you haven't read it before, I'd strongly suggest picking up the 24
issue run. To be completely honest, I never really like
Spoiler
in the past and only got into the book because I thought the
black-and-purple Batgirl outfit looked really cool. I'm glad
I
did because the comic was consistently great from the art to the
dialog. We hardly knew ya, Stephanie and rebooted Barbara
Gordon's got some big shoes to fill because of you.

NEED I SAY MORE?!
If you haven't heard by now, DC Comics is planning a massive relaunch
of a bulk of their core titles, and it seems that Wonder Woman will
continue to sport pants in this new universe. Now, I was okay
with the change before because I was sure it wasn't going to stick, but
now it seems like Wondy's a victim of change citing reasons such as
"realism" and "equality" for the wardrobe change even though many other
female characters seem to be immune to Political Correctness (Harley
Quinn, I'm looking at you).
So I've done the unimaginable, I've started a Facebook
Page! So join the cause if you want your voice
heard and Diana's pants off! <3

Hi
there, everybody!
I'm back from BotCon 2011 and it was a blast! I got to see a lot
of old friends, plus meet a few new ones! Thanks for everybody
who came to the table and said hi! Thanks even more if you bought
something! XD
The convention was a ton of fun, but that's thanks to hanging out with
some badasses of the TFW2005 crew (Dan, Al, Colin, Chris, Becky, Seth,
Jarod, Aaron, Lupis, Vangelus, Curt, Jeremy, and everyone else I might
or might not have been too drunk to remember to mention right now).
It was also awesome to catch up with (and bask in the talented
glow of) guys like Marcelo Matere, Casey Coller, Josh Perez and the
Hasbro guys like Aaron Archer, Bill Rawley, and Eric Siebenaler.
The lines were long as always, and the prices more than a tad
steeper than I was used to (souvenir toys and G1 stuff, I'm looking at YOU),
but Hasbro and FunPub still put on a great show. A highlight for
me and a lot of other people was the 2005 Friday Night bar meetup where
Silas got completely smashed. XD Also, a crazy-awesome
impromtu trip to Disneyland topped off an awesome trip.
Okay, now to talk shop. :3

One of which is my BotCon 2011 Print "Feeding Time," which sold out at
the show. Also, my last copies of the Optimus Prima: Reformatted
comic are also gone. Thanks to everyone who bought copies and I

about people still in need right here at home. I'm sure that
many, if not all of you have heard about the tornadoes that recently
ravaged Northern Alabama including the cities of Birmingham, Tuscaloosa
and countless other townships. The news and images are
devastating and happened quite literally in my backyard.
To aid the relief effort, I'm opening up my $5 sketches like I did with
the Japanese fundraiser. $5 will get you a sketch of your choice

to Doctors Without Borders to help fund relief efforts in the

Word on the street is that Hasbro will be releasing their

smokin' redheads are your thing, then I've got a treat for you today!
Check out two new pieces In Fan
Art, ginger kids!
One of those pieces was inspired by a new toy I picked up the other day
that I'm really digging, the new Marvel Legends Black Widow:
I admit it. I'm not a Black Widow fan and just picked up this
two-pack because I thought the Natasha figure was pretty hot.
And
I'm glad I did. She's got a great sculpt, a healthy dose of
articulation and armed to the teeth thanks to a pistol and assault
rifle. Plus she's got an alternate head to show off her
shorter
80's era haircut if that's the BW that floats your boat.
Initially I was going to sell the Winter Soldier she came
packed
with, but he ended up being a pretty damn cool toy too! These
two
are proof that the Marvel Legends attention to detail hasn't died with
the handover to Hasbro in my book.
This two pack is a Toys R Us
exclusive and (when I got them at least) are still available on the
pegs. The $30 price tag is a little steep for two 6" figures,
but
that's pretty much par for the course if you're a collector.

GO PACKERS!!!
The game may have been rocky for either team and I'm not sure if either
team really "showed up," but my Packers still came out on top and a win
is a win is a win. Especially since I watched the game with four
Steelers fans. For every touchdown, one of my buddies would give
me a slice of cheese. DELICIOUS.

figure!
 
I was lucky enough to have been able to snag a preorder for the
exclusive version, which comes with an alternate head. She's
now perched atop a shelf looking over my Transformers room.

Back
from Wizard
World Atlanta and I would say that a great time was had by
all... but I would be lying. Over-priced and under-whelming.
But in the end, I got to hang out with a bunch of
friends, including a few in some pretty smokin' costumes. So
I can't complain too much. :3
