Chidori Kaname

I
added some Full Metal Panic songs to my current playlist and it made
me super nostalgic for the anime. Kaname was a lot of "firsts"
for me. Fumoffu and TSR made me a Kyoto Animation fan before I
knew who Kyoto Animation even was, and Fummofu is high on my list of
best openings of all time. She was a big part of Yukino
Satsuki being one of my favorite voice actors and I'm pretty sure the
design kicked off my love for double-breasted school uniforms.

A lot of the FMP promo art had the girls sporting guns, so drawing her
with Prime's Ion Blaster was the first pose that popped into my head.
I went with MP-1's rifle since that was the new hotness around
when the anime were airing. I've drawn Chidori a couple times but
this is the first piece that I've ever walked away happy. I think
it's because I didn't really try to emulate the anime style at all
(especially those early 2000's icicle bangs), which is something I'm
trying to be more and more conscious of avoiding.
